Martha
MacCallum and team were really great ThursPM, many topics.
For Betsy DeVos, the Education Secretary vote, we learned that
even with two GOP/RINO/women defecting, the vote in the Senate will still be
successful. For the first time in history, the VP will break any tie for a
presidential nominee to the president’s cabinet. Jeff Sessions will need to stay
a senator, VP Mike Pence will be the 51st vote, and then Jeff
Sessions can be confirmed to the cabinet as the US Attorney General. Sean Spicer says they are very confident.
There are ten Democrats
up for reelection in 2018 and five of them are in districts that Trump won with
double-digits: Tammy Baldwin (WI), Sherrod Brown (OH),
Bob Casey (PA), Joe Donnelly (IN), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Bill
Nelson (FL), Joe Manchin (WV), Claire
McCaskill (MO), Debbie Stabenow
(MI), and Jon Tester (MT).

(This site has background details.)
For the Supreme Court vote,
seven Democrats say they will vote for Judge Neil Gorsuch and do not support a
Democrat filibuster. One more would reach 60.
Some of the seven are not on the list of ten, so getting one more will
be ‘easy’. As you may have heard, seen,
or read, President Trump says the NUCLEAR option should be on the table, but “it
is up to Mitch.” This is good
negotiation!
