‘Let There Be Light’ -- our film review "so great!"

Movie reviews for “Let There Be Light”
including our own
Rated PG-13  1 hour 40 minutes  Official Site: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5804314/

First, our own comments:  The movie is fantastic!   We enjoyed every minute of it—every minute counted.  The leads were perfect, including the real life family of Mr and Mrs Sorbo and their two sons.  A third son dies at age 8 of cancer and when the dad has his death-and-back experience, provides the cryptic message, “Let There Be Light”.  This becomes a quest after his Christian conversion.  Hannity is also great in his role at the end of the movie.

Deliver Us From Evil” (as you well know) is the title of one of Sean Hannity’s books.  In the cyberwar of Islam vs Christianity you have Christ’s Love, vs Islamic beheadings.  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is one of invitation, not threat of death.  This is one point of the movie.

I have enough notes to write completely about the movie but you need to see it yourselves.  I’ll just give you one LDS perspective:  When Kevin Sorbo remarries his actual wife in the movie and the pastor says, “until death do you part”, he says, “No, not at death—I’ve been there.”

The reviewers don’t give enough credit to the Sorbo family.  The sons were great!  We enjoyed the close-up shots of the faces, including the sons, the lovely Mrs Sorbo, and Kevin Sorbo.  The music was great.  At the end, the credits seemed brief, not 15 minutes of thousands of team members to make a mega-movie.  This faith-movie will knock the sox off of losing R-movies.

A personal note:  We have an LDS friend, Medy Fowler, who crossed over, “Home and Back Again” twice and tells of the embrace of the Savior and the beauty of Heaven, including music and vivid colors. She visits with her family members who have passed. They are near us.

Home and Back Again: My Journey Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

Imelda Fowler, age 53, is the mother of two and a grandmother of three children. She is also a National and State Power Lifting champion (97 lbs. class), holding several records in the United States. A native of the Philippines, she came to America in 1980, when she was 20 years old. In the summer of 2004, her appendix burst and due to a misdiagnoses by a late-night intern

Now, two bone-head reviews (read and believe the opposite)

The title and opening paragraph from Hollywood Reporter, online, by narky Frank Scheck
Kevin Sorbo plays an atheist who finds God after a near-death experience in this drama executive produced by Sean Hannity.
Let There Be Light represents a clearly personal family affair for former Hercules star Kevin Sorbo, who stars in and makes his directorial debut with the faith-based film. The screenplay was co-written by his real-life spouse Sam Sorbo, who plays his character's ex-wife, and their sons Braden and Shane appear as the couple's offspring. But while Christian audiences will no doubt embrace this heavily proselytizing drama, secular viewers are likely to feel like they've been accosted by a street-corner preacher.

Variety.com reviewer Dennis Harvey opening title and paragraphs

Film Review: ‘Let There Be Light’ by Dennis ‘talking-points’ Harvey

Kevin Sorbo directs and Sean Hannity exec produces an inspirational drama about the spiritual redemption of the "world's most famous atheist."

Kevin Sorbo, the former TV “Hercules” now a busy producer-star primarily in the faith-based entertainment industry, makes his feature directorial debut in the latter mode with “Let There Be Light.” More polished than many of its ilk, perhaps due to executive producer coin from the inimitable Sean Hannity — who gets third billing for a shamelessly self-promoting late appearance — this drama about the spiritual awakening of “the world’s most famous atheist’” is predictably simplistic and maudlin in content. But it should satisfy the target demographic with an inspirational family-values message wrapped in a sudsy narrative.

NOTE:  Reader-comments are 100x  better than the reviewer’s!

When they remarry and the preacher comes to “until death do you part”,
Kevin Sorbo says, “No, not at death—I’ve been there.”

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Houston Astros

Lynnette text to daughter Debbie:  "We were up late last night."
Idaho daughter, Debbie to Lynnette:  "We were too."

Charles to Lynnette:  (1)  It's only a game, a national pastime. (2) To reach the World Series, both teams are top-notch.  (3) Both teams tried very hard but it may be like wrestling, somewhat predetermined, at least that seemed to be the case with the referee(Dodgers will win with four out of seven wins, and games six and seven will be at Dodger Stadium.   Hence, the Houston team had to win last evening. it was close, very close, a high-scoring game.

True blue Dodger fans were elated with a 4-0 lead so early in the game. Then, it was a roller coaster.  You may have enjoyed the high scoring game ending 13-12 in favor of the Houston team, but we True Blue fans felt every swing of the bat and every swing in the scoring!

What we really liked were the patriotic pre-game anthem renditions, showing respect for the flag and the National Anthem!

In the first game, there was an Air Force 'fly-over' after a Black-America  pastor sang the National Anthem.  He had an amazing amateur voice, and ended in a crescendo as the fighter jets crossed over at the perfect moment, tears in our eyes, Northrop aircraft

Not to be outdone, in the domed Astrodome (closed) they had a more pop-culture singing of the National Anthem, the giant flag on the field, waving at the appropriate time with hundreds around the edges to do the waving, AND THEN AN AMERICAN BALD EAGLE FLYING, CIRCLING, AND LANDING WITH THE TRAINER.  WOW!!!!!

As you may know, the Dodgers then won in a great 'game three' to even at two to two (games).

Contrast that to the NFL, just now on TV, "We came together (to kneel)" in protest to the Texas Cowboy owner and his sentence, "It's the inmates running the asylum.'

PS:  Debbie and her husband have a True Blue Dodger family (in Idaho) and for an anniversary event traveled to Detroit to cheer the Dodgers in their win over the Detroit Tigers in Detroit.

FoxNews report on the Dodgers 8-5 win in an exciting game:
http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/gonzalez-returns-from-dl-dodgers-top-tigers-8-5-081917

Now, the series has Houston leading 3-2 with Tuesday's game being important.  Note it is during the evening of Halloween so expect some interesting camera time.  The game starts at 5pm and will be 30 degrees cooler than the first game, which was played in 102 degrees.

The Kurdish Test for Trump

Trump's decisions on the Kurdish will be very important!
Iran’s mullahs are betting that Trump, like Obama, will choose appeasement.  Count on President Trump to be different!

In a just world, the Kurds would have a state of their own. Their culture is ancient. They speak a distinctive language. They have a homeland, Kurdistan, ruled for centuries by Arabs, Turks and Persians — foreigners and oppressors all.
…   …   …
It’s essential that Mr. Trump make clear that further threats to the security and integrity of the Kurdish region will not be countenanced, that any advance on Erbil will be met with stiff sanctions and, if necessary, force. The U.S. should insist that all military operations cease immediately and that negotiations between Baghdad and Kurdish leaders commence under American auspices.
Anything less will be interpreted as acquiescence to the Islamic republic’s drive to impose its brand of jihadism and Islamism on its neighbors and, in due time, far beyond.
To make America great again requires demonstrating that America is the best friend and the worst enemy any nation can have. During the Obama years, the opposite seemed to be the case. If aligning with the U.S. comes to be viewed as a chump’s game no matter who is in the White House, the U.S. will end up with no friends. It will have a growing list of emboldened enemies instead.

The Mother of all Corruption, Clinton Cash and Alinsky!

Everyone sees the BIGGEST SCANDAL OF OUR LIVES, not just Clinton/Obama!

Caller Scolds Host for Saying Hillary Won't Go to Jail
CALLER: This Uranium One deal makes Watergate look like a parking violation. And by you saying that Hillary won’t go to jail over the biggest national security scandal in U.S. history only serves to give her cover. The Democrats and the RINOs are going to say, “Whoa. Thank God for Limbaugh. He just gave us an out.”

RUSH: You know, I hadn’t looked at it this way.

CALLER: Well, listen, man. You don’t know how big your influence is. By you saying that she won’t go to jail, they’re going to be going, “Thank God we’re in the clear now. We can save her from the clink.”

RUSH: Jay, I want to be honest with you about something. I can tell you’re not going to believe it, but I don’t think that way. I don’t have a consciousness of power or influence. I really don’t. I’m totally taken aback here by your take, that my simply offering the opinion that I can’t imagine the swamp would ever put her in jail, as giving her cover.
…   …   …
RUSH: Well, there better be a lot going on beside — we run the apparatus. We run the intelligence committees in the House and Senate. The Democrats don’t. We do. There better be a lot going on behind the scenes. Trump’s got some great judicial appointees, some of them have been confirmed. There’s no reason to act like the Democrats still run this show and can bottleneck all of these things. We run the DOJ. We should be able to run investigations into this stuff.
This is one of the many reasons Trump has been elected, by the way, is to make sure that the legitimate tools of law enforcement are used against all of these people who’ve been abusing this system for who knows how long. The evidence keeps piling up. I’m encouraged when I hear Devin Nunes, who really deserves a lot of credit on both the uranium and the dossier thing, Devin Nunes, remember, he made that trip up to the White House that was castigated for. He found that intel that nobody had seen that they were trying to cover up, and then they started demanding that he recuse himself from all this stuff, from certain aspects of the investigation. And he did, but not all.
He is owed a debt, really, for sticking to this. But he runs that committee. And so there better be some things going on behind the scenes here that will result in action being taken, because I will guaran-damn-tee you, if the tables were reversed and this story was essentially the same except the Republicans had done the paying, the Republicans had manufactured the lies, the Republicans had used whatever was created to run phony, false intelligence investigations, criminal investigations of Democrats, there would already have been a perp walk in handcuffs. Somebody would already be in jail, and the media wouldn’t let go of it ’til more were in jail.

The Olde Gray Lady started Tinsel-gate !

Rush Limbaugh pointed out the following reason Tinsel-gate began.

"So the question – and it’s a big one – is why did the Gray Lady, that pinnacle of journalistic probity called the New York Times, suddenly find it necessary to violate the conspiracy of silence and share this information on page one only now?
"Can it be because barely a month ago, Weinstein announced his plan to direct a movie based on Leon Uris’s epic Warsaw Ghetto novel ‘Mila 18’? Can it be because Weinstein, despite his bleeding heart liberalism, despite his having shoveled truckloads of dollars into the Obama coffers, despite his blind obeisance to the Clinton corruption machine, crossed the Israel-hating Time’s red line and declared himself a Zionist and a lover of Israel? Had Weinstein instead come out in support of BDS is there a chance of a snowball in hell that the Times would have taken the liberty of bringing down such a lion of liberalism?"
J.J Gross is a grossly brilliant wordcrafter for The Times of Israel.
"J.J Gross is a veteran creative director and copywriter, who made aliyah in 2007 from New York."

Review the talks of the LDS world conference

You will want to review the talks of the LDS general conference:

ABOUT GENERAL CONFERENCE

General conferences are the semiannual worldwide gatherings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church members gather to receive guidance and encouragement from Church leaders about gospel living based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

SHIFT The NARRATIVE

You should buy this book: SHIFT The NARRATIVE, by Russell Redenbaugh
Subtitle: A blind man’s vision for rewriting the stories that limit us
He was in the same HS graduating class as Lynnette.  Deseret News article:
Blinded at age 17, making a rocket model inspired by JFK and moon shot,

• After graduating on time with the class of '64 from Olympus High, the former “indifferent at best” student majored in business at the University of Utah and finished first in his class.
• At the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, he earned his MBA and finished fifth in his class.
• As an economist and financier, first in Philadelphia and later in Silicon Valley, he gained world renown as an investor and strategist, making millions for his clients and millions more for himself.
• Appointed by President George H.W. Bush in 1990, he served on the Civil Rights Commission until 2005, the commission's first disabled member.
• At the age of 50, he began training in the Brazilian martial art of jiujitsu and proceeded to win consecutive world championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005 — all against sighted opponents.
